Worcester Friends Meeting is a welcoming, progressive faith community seeking to discern what the Spirit that lives in every human heart asks of us each and all. Our meeting is affiliated with the Society of Friends, or Quakers.

Quakers have lived and worshipped in what is today central Massachusetts, on the ancestral homeland of the Nipmuc people, since the eighteenth century. An early precursor of our meeting was established in 1848, which evolved over time into its current form. Today, WFM has close to 50 members and attenders from Worcester and the surrounding towns.

Our Sunday potlucks are a cherished tradition that we have recently revived after a three-year hiatus.

Our meeting does not have a pastor or minister who leads us. Instead, we believe that members and attenders are collectively responsible for what happens during worship and for the practical work of sustaining the meeting.

However, Friends do take turns serving in various positions of responsibility within the meeting, in accordance with their gifts and leadings. These include:

  • Tom Brenner

    CO-CLERK

  • Karen Sargent

    CO-CLERK

  • Katharine Barnard

    RECORDING CLERK

  • Aaron Sakulich

    TREASURER

  • Tim Lamm

  • Lucy Candib

CO-CLERK, PEACE, SOCIAL CONCERNS, AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE

  • Jane Cutting

CO-CLERK, PEACE, SOCIAL CONCERNS, AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE

  • Matt Shorten

Twice a year, we hold a Market Day, when we sell handmade goods, recycle attic treasures, and connect with our West Side neighbors.

One way to learn more about the life of the meeting is to read our monthly newsletter, which is edited by Sheila Brenner.

Worcester Friends Meeting is the trustee of the Friends Cemetery in Leicester, where onetime members and their relatives are buried.
