A Special Message for Families.
The Worcester Monthly Meeting draws members and attenders from across Worcester County, however our First Day School program is small. Our experience of our "one room classroom" model is that it offers several advantages for younger children. For instance, they get lots of attention from adults whose ages range from 20 to 90. Our children develop a level of comfort and self-confidence around adults not often otherwise seen; they are not shy!
As the children get older, they participate in the Youth Programs offered by the New England Yearly Meeting. The New England Yearly Meeting makes a major commitment to ministering to the needs of our children, teens and young adults.
The Junior Yearly Meeting program offers programs and retreats for elementary school and junior high-aged children. The Young Friends program for high school-aged (grades 9-12) young people is a major part of the lives of adolescent Quaker kids. To see the Young Friends in action is an awesome experience.
During the summer, many children attend Friends Camp, in China, Maine.
The New England Yearly Meeting also has under its care Moses Brown School, a college-prep day school in Providence, Rhode Island; and the New England Friends Home, an assisted living facility located in Hingham, Massachusetts.
The New England Yearly Meeting holds dual membership in the Friends General Conference, and Friends United Meeting. Internationally, the Yearly Meeting is also a member of Friends World Committee for Consultation which has a Section of the Americas..
